The elementary children are challenged by a wide variety of interrelated learning. The goal is to foster independence, competence, problem-solving skills, the ability to work cooperatively within a group and follow the spark of intellectual inquisitiveness and mastery of academic skills kindled in their primary years. Rather than feed dry facts, a teacher will ask provocative questions that will lead students to independent research and deep learning. Individual mastery is balanced with small group collaboration. We recognize that down the road statewide testing is a concern and children are prepared for these tests.
